UX director, Berlin

What you will be doing

MING Labs is looking for a new UX Director to join our lovely team in Germany (based in Munich or Berlin).

Besides your day-to-day responsibilities of managing a team of 10+ designers, you’ll be contributing to both the studios and design teams strategic direction.

You'll encourage and ensure world-class design execution by facilitating collaboration between designers, disciplines, customers and developers. Setting the benchmark for quality and best practices, you’ll help steer designers to execute in a fast-moving, global environment. You will also be an ambassador of MING culture and brand, both internally and externally and - naturally - have big care for the wellbeing of the MINGions in the design team in general.

OK, on to the nitty gritty details...

You will lead, manage, mentor and develop talented teams of UX and Business Designers, as well as, play a main role in the recruitment of new team members.

You will partner with our Founders in the creation and execution of Business Development and Design Leadership initiatives. You will plan and write world class design proposals for our clients and participate in key meetings and presentations.

You will explore state-of-the-art digital product/service design and become a UX evangelist for our business stakeholders.

You will provide thought leadership and spread the value of UX through case studies, public speaking and thought pieces on our Medium and social media accounts.

You will help our team to win awards and get the recognition they deserve.

You will propose, plan and facilitate Design Thinking and UX-focused workshops with stakeholders, clients, users and/or external vendors.

What we are looking for

15+ years of professional experience in interaction, digital product and service design and at least 5 years managing and developing a team.

Relevant agency experience working with big corporations and startups from a diverse range of industries.

A strong understanding of Human Centered Design methods and processes.

Excellent communication and presentation skills in German and English.

An entrepreneurial and consultative approach with the ability to create processes from scratch, adapt to changing situations and build successful clients and internal relationships.

An impressive portfolio of UX Design focused work samples for digital products and services.

An advanced degree in service, interaction, digital product design or similar.

You are willing to travel across Germany as needed (approximately 60% of your time).
